Barbara Thomas (My Mom)

June 2, 1957 - April 19, 2012

In September 2011, my mom was diagnosed with Stage IV Colon Cancer which had metastasized to her liver. By November the Cancer had spread to her hip bone. Her Cancer was rare in that it was a Small Cell Carcinoma, which is normally found in your lungs. She was given numerous rounds of Chemo and her protocol was even changed. The tumor continued to grow on her liver and the cancer spreaded to three places in her spine. Despite this my mom fought hard against her cancer and maintained a positive attitude, but eventually she couldn't fight it any longer. She passed away on April 19, 2012. She battled her cancer for only six months. She was a fun-loving person and I know she is smiling down on me from heaven. I really miss her though.
